Other university rankings
University rankings are mainly focused on globally analyzing universities. They use methodologies based on bibliometric indicators, cybermetrics and statistical analysis to standardize and compare the measured criteria. OSuR has been developed to study the strengths and weaknesses of each methodology:
- Ranking based on ISI journals (Institute for Scientific Information)
- Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU): The the most famous worldwide ranking of universities
- QS World University Rankings is a ranking of the top 700 universities worldwide
- Times Higher Education World University Rankings It's an international ranking based on information provided by Thomson Reuters, a company dedicated to selling information and providing citations database on research for the study is based.
- HEEACT Uses bibliometric indicators to analyze the performance of universities scientific publications, based on information from recognized data bases: Essencial Science Indicators (ESI), Web of Science (WOS) and Journal Citation Report (JCR)
- Ranking CHE (Germany) instead of having a total value for each college allows users to define the importance of the different criteria and create their own ranking.
- The Complete University Guide It's a British ranking (only universities in this country) that analyzes universities using 9 criteria and allows to segment the information we need.
- Leiden Ranking: A ranking based solely on bibliometric indicators that analyzes performance for the scientific area for each college and that is based on accurate and verifiable information. It doesn't rely, unlike most rankings, on information provided by the universities themselves , so it can be easily manipulable.
- U-Map it's a project that classifies European universities using the criteria that users choose.
