Pros
Cons
Welcome to our in-depth look at the Hotmail App, now known as Outlook Mail, which is a pivotal email management tool for Android devices. This application revolutionises your inbox experience with features like seamless integration with other Microsoft services, focused inbox to prioritize important emails, and customizable swipe gestures. Let’s delve deeper and find out whether it’s the right choice for your communication needs.
Explore the main features of Hotmail App -> Outlook Mail
As I navigated through the Hotmail App, now rebranded to Outlook Mail, the intuitive design stood out, making it easy to handle emails efficiently. Notably, the app supports multiple email accounts from various services, letting users manage their correspondence in one place.
The Focused Inbox feature is a standout, which filters key emails, separating them from less critical mail. This helps to keep attention on the most vital communications first, ensuring that important messages don’t get lost in the clutter.
How does Focused Inbox enhance your email management?
During testing, the Focused Inbox distinguished itself by its smart filtering capabilities. It uses machine learning to prioritize emails from frequent contacts and key conversations, thereby streamlining your inbox management without manual intervention.
Its effectiveness lies in its customizability; users can easily move emails in and out of the Focused Inbox, training the app to learn what’s important. Over time, this feature provides a more personalized email experience as it adapts to your patterns.
The support for multiple email accounts across various platforms
I found that adding and navigating between different email accounts was exceptionally smooth with Outlook Mail. The app not only supports Outlook and Hotmail but also enables integration with Gmail, Yahoo, and iCloud, amongst others.
This cross-platform aggregation means that Outlook Mail can serve as a central hub for all your email activity. Users looking for a unified inbox across multiple services will find this feature particularly useful.
Customization brings your personal touch to Outlook Mail
One of the most striking features is the level of customization the Outlook Mail app offers. Users can tailor the app’s appearance and functionality to suit their preferences, including the choice of theme and the rearrangement of folders.
Outlook Mail’s customizable swipe gestures have been optimized for ease of use. By setting actions for quick swipes, tasks like archiving, deleting, or scheduling emails become more accessible, saving precious time during email management.
Themes and visual customization options
Exploring the theme options, it becomes clear that Hotmail App -> Outlook Mail caters to both aesthetic and practical preferences. The dark mode is especially beneficial for reducing eye strain during late hours and saving battery life on OLED screens.
I found the ability to rearrange and sort folders and filters quite beneficial for prioritizing work, allowing me to keep the most relevant folders within easy reach. This level of customization ensures a smoother workflow and enhances productivity.
How swipe gestures redefine email actions
With just a few taps, I customized the swipe gestures to align with my emailing habits. The quick actions are incredibly handy for dealing with emails without opening them fully, providing an efficient way to keep the inbox organized on the go.
Implementing these gestures helps speed up routine tasks like deleting spam or archiving finished conversations, which is particularly useful for users with high email volumes.
Integration with other Microsoft services
Microsoft’s ecosystem integration elevates Outlook Mail beyond a traditional email app. The seamless connection with services such as OneDrive and Office allows users to access and edit documents directly from their email, facilitating workflow considerably.
Another key integration feature is the Microsoft To Do, which syncs tasks from emails to your to-do list. This makes managing tasks extracted from email correspondences straightforward and efficient.
The synergy between Outlook Mail and OneDrive
Hotmail App -> Outlook Mail’s integration with OneDrive streamlines the process of attaching files. Instead of downloading documents to the device, users can attach them directly from their cloud storage. This is not only convenient but also saves device storage space.
OneDrive’s file preview within the email is also a strong point. Being able to view attachments before downloading them directly in the app enhances security, as you can screen documents without exposing your device to potential risks.
Task management with Microsoft To Do
Incorporating emails into Microsoft To Do is done with a few taps, allowing you to add emails as tasks. This ensures that important tasks born from email communication are not forgotten and are dealt with in a timely manner.
The integration is not a simple one-way street, as it allows for two-way synchronization with the email app. The tasks that you add are reflected back in your Outlook Mail inbox, ensuring a coherent task management experience.

Despite the small criticisms that I may have against Outlook, I usually prefer this email and use it for everything. I register on pages, I give them to my acquaintances and I even use it at work because I can use it directly on my mobile phone, and that saves me a lot of time. Among the elements that I like the least is the interface, which is not as pleasant as in other emails, and its spam security system is not so well configured.

I don't like how the app still includes certain features in the web version that are not available in the app itself. Also, I don't like Outlook consuming storage for every email I set up. I personally do not recommend having too many accounts. I manage 4 email accounts and I had to delete one because it was eating up too many GB of storage.
